Murray’s Entry in the Dictionary of Irish Biography

The Royal Irish Academy maintains a dictionary of notable men and women that were either born or lived in Ireland. The Dictionary of Irish Biography is billed as “An authoritative reference work of nearly 11,000 lives for scholars of Irish history, society and culture.”

In early 2022 I nominated James A. Murray (Butte’s Radical Irish Millionaire) for consideration in this publication and was subsequently commissioned by the RIA to author his entry. Murray joins fellow Irish-born mining tycoons John MacKay, James Fair, and William O’Brian in the Dictionary.
